About UANMAC
Demining the territory of Ukraine after the war is one of the biggest challenges facing our society. Thousands of homes, estates, fields, and businesses bear traces of the war, which will remind of the hostilities for many years after their end.
History of creation
Back in 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law of Ukraine "On Mine Action in Ukraine".
According to the 2020 edition, the law required the establishment of the Mine Action Center, which is a budgetary institution established by the Ministry of Defense and maintained at the expense and within the limits of approved budget allocations.
On July 9, 2021, the Mine Action Center of the State Special Service of Transport was opened in Chernihiv region.
Tasks of the center
The tasks of the mine action center include:
- participation in the planning of mine action activities;
- information management in the field of mine countermeasures within the scope of authority;
- ensuring the functioning of the demining quality management system, certification of mine action operators and mine action processes, and inspection of demined territories;
- generalization and submission to the national mine action authority of proposals for national standardization in the field of mine action;
- implementation of testing and implementation of national mine countermeasures standards;
- participation in international cooperation;
- implementation of a unified system of training and advanced training of personnel involved in demining;
- ensuring the collection of data on incidents with explosive objects among the civilian population;
- involvement of experts in investigations of incidents with explosive objects;
- implementation of monitoring of the state of marking of dangerous areas;
- informing the population about the risks associated with explosive objects;
- monitoring of risks associated with explosive objects;
- scientific and technical support of mine countermeasures within the scope of authority;
- investigation of accidents and incidents related to mine action;
- reporting to the national authority on mine action;
- carrying out work with the personnel of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the non-use of anti-personnel mines;
- electronic information interaction with the State Land Cadastre regarding the provision of information on land plots contaminated with explosive objects/cleaned of explosive objects.
