Mine action activities planning

The main task of the department is planning, analysis, organization, and coordination of mine action measures and the implementation of certain functions of the Mine Action Center, as defined in Article 25 of the Law of Ukraine No. 2642-VIII of December 6, 2018, "On Mine Action in Ukraine."

Our tasks

The Department of Planning, Organization, and Coordination of Mine Action Measures is the main structural unit of the Mine Action Center and, to ensure the fulfillment of its primary task, performs the following functions:

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates the implementation of non-technical survey measures, technical survey of territories, and demining activities of areas contaminated with explosive remnants of war (mechanically, manually, and using explosive ordnance risk reduction methods) by certified mine action operators.
  • Plans, coordinates, and analyzes public awareness activities regarding the risks associated with mines and explosive remnants of war conducted by certified mine action operators.
  • Participates in reviewing demining operation plans before the commencement of work on contaminated areas.
  • Ensures the activities of mine action operators in electronic web applications within the IMSMA database.
  • Collects and analyzes planning documentation from mine action operators and submits it to the secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority.
  • Processes and analyzes requests received from regional military administrations, institutions, and organizations for mine action activities.
  • Organizes the involvement of experts in investigating incidents related to explosive ordnance.
  • Participates in the preparation and submission of proposals to the National Mine Action Authority regarding national standardization in the field of mine action.
  • Engages in the testing and implementation of national mine action standards.
  • Takes part in international cooperation in the department’s areas of activity.
  • Contributes to the implementation of a unified system for training and professional development of personnel involved in demining.
