A working meeting was held between representatives of the Mine Action Center and mine action operators under the auspices of the Representation of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine. The representative office of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine, the branch of The Mine Advisory Group in Ukraine and the branch of NORWEGIAN PEOPLE’S AID took part in the event. The meeting was devoted to issues of information management in the field of mine countermeasures.
Mine action information management is an ongoing process that includes establishing and implementing requirements for data collection, analysis and accounting. The purpose of this process is to provide stakeholders with up-to-date information for making relevant decisions. The importance of this aspect cannot be overestimated, because effective information management is the key to successful humanitarian demining.
Representatives of various organizations exchanged valuable information management experience in the context of humanitarian demining. The participants discussed the methods and standards of filling out the reports, which help to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information, determined the optimal terms and procedure for marking territories contaminated by mines and explosive residues. They also considered the issue of issuing a certificate of transfer of responsibility for the cleared area.
Special attention was paid to the discussion of the new standard “Mine countermeasures. Management processes. Part 3. Information management system”, which aims to improve information management processes in the field of mine countermeasures.
The meeting helped establish stronger ties between organizations working in the field of mine action and laid the foundation for effective cooperation and support in the future.
